More About ME

Passionate About Healing and Growing Through Play

I grew up in a small town in Northern California with a forest as my backyard and all the friends that the limits of my imagination would allow.  In this environment I learned to nurture my creativity and my love of play. It did not nurture my interpersonal skills, however. As time moved forward, like any other human being, I was asked to grow up and to tackle the challenges of being with others. I would soon discover that fostering healthy relationships would become my passion.

I've chosen to work with children and families because I have a strong belief that healing occurs within relationships, and that the relationships that can have the most impact on who we are and who we become are the ones that we have with our families.  I have loved meeting families wherever they are in their journey and working with them to achieve the goals that they have for themselves.

As I've worked with many families through their healing journeys, I've at the same time begun my own journey into parenthood and can appreciate the day-to-day struggles that occur in raising children. I've learned that life can be a constant navigation of interpersonal relationships. These relationships require interacting with friends and family who come with their own set of feelings, desires, communication skills, and interests. I believe that an important aspect to maintaining healthy relationships is gaining a better ability to be flexible with what you cannot control in your environment. This is what the drama therapy that I practice is aimed at doing; increasing a person's ability to be confident and flexible in the wild world that surrounds us.
